Use my posts, but credit me

I want you to share my posts with other people, through any medium in any format, according to the restrictions described on this page.

In addition, if you republish or use an excerpt, I’d appreciate it if you’d tell me so I can feel proud! Unless you’re using my writing to show poor writing, in which case I’d rather not know.

Technical: The License

Rather than “Copyright” my blog posts, or mark them “all rights reserved,” I use the Creative Commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International. (Official license summary.) Creative Commons License

  • Attribution: You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
  • NonCommercial: You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
  • NoDerivatives: If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material.

Without specific permission from me, you may publish (online or in print) a quotation of up to 100 words. To do so, you must attribute me (see below). I’m almost certain to allow you a longer quotation, just ask!

To attribute (or cite) one of my blog posts, please include the title, author, source, and license, like this:
